Ooh, hey, it turns out it was my company who designed the new Doctor Who logo. Should have realised that before, actually, but the office monkeys have less than nothing to do with the creative media types, especially us in Glasgow.

I like the logo (and I said so before I found out it was my company, too). Shiny and kinda retro - the font is a bit reminiscent of the very first logo. With added lensflare, because lensflare is now compulsory. I'm assuming they'll use the two parts separately, as the title card and the logo, and I like the video version. Lots of people getting upset about it, as usual, because it's Doctor Who and you Can't Change Things. Except everything ever, all the time, because that's the whole point of the show. (Also, people are saying that the new logo is a spoiler. WTF, people?)

Filming photos for the 2010 series are interesting. Cautious optimism coming from here.

I like how someone said it looked "childish" on the board I was on today. Uhhh. Yeah.

Yeah, amateurish I think. Looks like some fan cobbled it together from a bad font and too many effects.

Aww. I think it'll be fine as long as they usually use the two separately.

I'm not too keen on the current one, it's a bit messy for me, so I like the smoothness of this better.

The current one was a bit of a surprise when it first came on the screen. But somehow it seemed to fit the times.
I want to say that this logo doesn't know if it's retro or modern. But -- perhaps with Matt Smith being 12 but dressing like an OU professor, that's the theme?
I'll take a logo I don't like that much over RTD's awful scifi anyway.

I've never liked the orangeness of the current one, and I've never found that it really said "Doctor Who" to me. This new one feels more in keeping with the previous ones.

I have seen at least three people saying "but it makes it look like a kids' show!!1!"

Aargh.

ooh, that's rather funky.

Saw a photo from the set (on the bbc news website, iirc). Matt Smith looked pretty good, though I have high hopes for his flame-haired companion. :-)

Heheh, she is very pretty.

It's weird that "a TV show is shooting" is news now.

All appears to be in order here. Carry on, moffat!

Yup. Mind you, I'm not sure there's anything they could do to the fecking logo that could get me that angry.

I vote that they write the next one in the last drop of your blood then! :D

Mitch Benn likes it. (And wrote a verse of his improv song about it at tonight's gig.) :)

But...but...you can't mess with the Tardis!

The logo's okay. I guess we'll just have to get used to it. It does look a little like someone was having too much fun with Photoshop tutorials when they came up with it though ;-)

Hee, they mess with the Tardis all the time! I want to see more rooms inside it.

Looks kinda like they took the 1964 logo and put it through 3/4 of Photoshop's effects, yes...

Yeah, I find it very old school. And you'd think that would please the whiners who hate change!

But no. They complain about everything. It's their very reason for existing.

I like it, to be honest it's much like I expected it to be since I get the impression that Moffat's version of the show is quite conservative. RTD was always about pulling the series into a new era, tilting more at the generation that watched Buffy The Vampire Slayer. Moffat seems to want to something closer to what the show used to be; I think all those London-set stories are likely to be put to one side. I reckon the tune will become more synth-based too, in contrast with the "adventure serial!" sound of the RTD-era theme.

I'm surprised by how many people thought the new logo was actually going to be both logos onscreen at once. Seemed clear to me that the left-hand logo was for the series and the right-hand one a "condensed" branding logo for other purposes.
