Blue Tuesday (Tell me how does it feel?)

Americans, I'm pretty sure you've all voted by now. *glares sternly at anyone who hasn't*

The rest of you, vote here!

http://www.iftheworldcouldvote.com/

How the world would vote according to the Economist:

http://www.economist.com/vote2008/index.cfm

According to them at the moment, four countries in the world would vote McCain - Cuba, Algeria, DR Congo and Iraq. That's a nice set of countries for him! (OK, there were less than 10,000 votes cast overall on that site, but the result is still funny.)

I still get confused about which party is represented by which colour in America because it's the opposite way round to here...

Edit: Damn, I forgot, no Heroes this week because of the election. Priorities, people! Jeez.

Hmmm....I suppose that's a reasonable excuse. Maybe.

They're expecting a record breaking turnout this year. Many places opened up the voting early (as in days and days early), in addition to accepting ballots by mail (traditional alternative to live voting). I suspect there will be lines at the polls all day long (polls close, here in CA, USA, typically at 7pm; other states keep them open even later).

Anyway, I dropped off my ballot on Sunday (there were drop off points available over the weekend), so I've already voted (as my latest LJ post indicates).

I thought I'd read that you'd voted! Bah. Dunno what you're complaining about, then :p

And the polls opened at 0600, I believe. Get down there and do your democratic duty! Do you want your town to have a rubbish dog-catcher, hey?

Dear Economist.com,

The formal, to-be-used-in-political-matters, name of our country is not "Britain".

No love,

Me.

Heh, I didn't even notice that. Could have been worse, could have been "England"...

I don't know how fast that poll site is changing, but at the moment, the only countries voting for McCain are Macedonia, Albania and Niue.

The first two I understand as Obama actively opposed their claims to parts of Greece. I had never heard of Niue until today, but apparently it is an island in the Pacific with a population of roughly 1500 people. And with it's 1 republican vote, is the only country 100% behing John McCain.

Weird, mine's still showing the same four, and it says the poll is closed.

That's very odd. The site is still taking votes when I visit it. And the results page is here.

Ahh! I was talking about the Economist one. Interesting that they're different, but iftheworldcouldvote is probably more accurate - more votes cast, anyway!

kniblet and I were queuing at six a.m, along with Chris, our downstairs neighbour (naturalised Yank citizen, originally from Stoke on Trent), and Simon, our upstairs neighbour (naturalised Yank citizen, originally from Argentina). Of course, I'm an ex-Brit, and Nicky is an ex-South African. We were living the immigrant dream.

Even better was when Al Qaeda endorsed McCain. I don't know which endorsement was worse, theirs or Dick Cheney's.
