My Hearing Is Impaired I Cannot...um...Hear

[whines]Waaah, my ear is blocked up and it's making me feel vaguely ill and fuzzy and wobbly and it's really bloody annoying. I think I might have said that before, but if I'm lucky it wasn't on here.[/whine] Entirely my own fault, I should have booked a syringing appointment about a month ago when it first started playing up. I've done it now, but sadly failed to write it down, so will have to phone back to confirm it is when I think it is. Maybe I can claim I didn't hear right. (Well, left - I'm hearing *right* fine.)

I would have called in sick today if I'd been doing my regular job, probably, but instead this weekend I'm doing mostly stupidly late shifts covering T in the Park shows, which is kind of fun. (Link to the Beeb, which has loads of clips and things.) And I don't have to wear headphones or listen to terrible-quality video clips, more pertinently. Or talk to anyone much. So I sat in my little booth and listened to the radio and watched the TV and prepared song lyric subtitles, and then swore at bands for changing their setlist and/ or improvising. The Wombats were good, and KT Tunstall. On the other hand, whoever thought having the Futureheads singing acoustically was a good idea should be fired. My brother's at the festival, so I've been looking out for him - I just got a text to tell me he's dressed as Dangermouse, which may be why I didn't spot him. I *think* it was a fancy dress day today, and he hasn't really gone mad. Probably. Tomorrow I'm working 6.30pm - 4.30am, and may have to attempt to subtitle Amy Winehouse. Eek. Must remember my LYRICS INDISTINCT label.

Edit: Oooh! I can has COOKIES! I totally forgot.

Ooh, nasty. I had that for most of the past year because I really should have got it syringed but didn't. Then it spontaneously cleared up a couple of weeks ago. *Pop* and suddenly the shower sounded like the most amazing thing I'd ever heard!

If you're subtitling the Winehouse woman, make sure you have a ready stock of *thump!* *pow!* and *oof!* captions on hand.
