Barack Obama has claimed victory in the Democratic nomination race. Clinton hasn't conceded yet, because she's really annoying.

Seriously, at the beginning of this race, I would have been happy to see either of them win, but Clinton... I don't quite know why I loathe her so much, but I really do. I think it's partially the "going for the feminist vote while getting your husband to do your dirty work" thing, as well as all the dodgy things she's said. Bill's gone down in my estimation too, somewhat inevitably. Obama isn't perfect by any means, but he seems to be intelligent and sincere and articulate - he'd beat Bush at Top Trumps any day.

Roll on November. Though I'm worried about what the Republicans have up their sleeves. If I were Iran I'd be very careful round about now.

Edit: John Rogers has a great piece on the nomination, which also explains my problems with Clinton better than I even tried to. Thanks to burkesworks for that link.

I think it's doing way more harm than good, dividing the party. In the lead up to November, the Democrats need to be united, in order to clinch the White House. I hope she decides to run alongside him, as vice president.

I think it's doing more harm than good too, but I blame Clinton more than Obama - she's run the nastiest campaign, and she's the one refusing to give up the fight.

I don't particularly want to see her on the ticket, because given the things she's said in the campaign, I can't see her working with him - I feel she'd always be working against him, to undermine him, and get the Presidency after him. And it would be handing the Republicans an election campaign on a plate - all they'd have to do would be to play the things she's said about him (and very possibly things he's said about her) to make the Obama/Clinton ticket look very weak.

Oh yeah, I do blame her for beating a pretty much dead horse. There comes a point where you have to bow out graciously and accept defeat.

I am concerned that might happen. And you do make a good point. I'm just a big people-pleaser, lol.

You loathe Clinton because she is, in every way, loathesome.

Anyone who seeks high office in the USA is pretty much bound to be a demagogue and a sleazebag; there's precious little difference between Obama and Clinton other than Obama doesn't make my flesh creep (and I've never read any Obama slash, whereas there's quite a lot of rather disturbing Hillary/Chelsea stuff out there).
