How about chips, cheese and GRAVY? Apparently
they eat it on the Isle of Man.

Sounds like poutine, which is very, very tasty.

[eta] Ah, there it is:

In the United Kingdom and on the Isle of Man, it is common to find "chips, cheese & gravy" for sale in a Chip shop or "chippy". This usually consists of brown gravy and grated mild Cheddar cheese.

It is lovely. I was introduced to it on a visit to Calgary, Alberta. Yum!

We have poutine over here in British Colimbia too and it is awesome!

As for beetroot...not even chocolate could fix that! *yuck* Leave it in the ground, I say!

It's perfect winter-food. When it's cold and wet and windy and icky out, it's good warm savoury stodge. Gorgeous.

Not many Canadians living around here!
They won't find it in our chippies ;-)

Yeah, I'm sure they're actually really nice, I was just a bit boggled by the concept!

If it had been a woman eating it, yes, that would have been entirely my reaction!

I want some now, even though it's bedtime and I'm entirely sober.

The beetroot muffins don't sound any worse than the ubiquitous veggie breads (carrot, courgette, pumpkin). I bet they'd be tasty. Maybe without the chocolate, though.

Shirley, you jest! I mean, they're beetroots, fer goodness' sake. How can anything good come out of beetroots?? o.O <- mind boggling

obDisclaimer: YMMV

Chips and cheese is the food of gods. Well, sort of. The chocolate and beetroot combo sounds horrible, but maybe the beetroot taste would just disappear into the chocolatiness. Any idea whence this muffin came?
