laerad and mind_expander have been over at various bits of this weekend, and we have mostly been playing Guitar Hero III. YAY. It's so much better than GHII. Better songs, better feel. Harder, mind you. I was bombing out horribly on the later Hard songs, which I should at least be able to finish. One by Metallica's a bit of a nightmare, though, as is Welcome To The Jungle. And as for the Dragonforce song that you unlock if you complete the game (I've gone through it on Easy to unlock everything), it's just ridiculous.

In between guitaring, we managed to find time to watch, er, eight episodes of first-season Heroes. There were a few bits I was really impressed with again, where it was clear that the writers had bits of the second season arc in mind already.

dibsy linked to the Educate Yourself website, which is likely to cause even hardcore conspiracy theorists to shout "Get off our side, you're making us look bad!" The page I've linked to is about chemtrails - how we're being sprayed with chemicals disguised to look like jet plane exhaust plumes. I think. And once you've skim-read that, open-mouthed, I suggest checking out the "Sylphs" page, which appears to be links to articles about how sylphs (you know, air elementals) are helping us out and trying to stop the chemtrailing. Guh.

From Bad Science via dave_t_lurker, how to make your own biometric ID card. And from metaquotes via geekchick, LOLpolitics captions. Examples:
That'll give you, er, voters.
Got ballots?
I'm in ur booth, electin' ur candidates.
My candidates iz votede on yey.
The ballots, let me not show you them.

Finally, hurrah to Australia for finally kicking John Howard out of office. And I believe their Labor party, now in power, is at least vaguely left wing. Although I suppose we thought ours was, in 1997.

I actually got the chemtrails thing off of the bad science forum.

I love bad science. Love it.

Heh, excellent. Yeah, it's brilliant!

(Also your icon is disturbing.)

Ben has excelled himself this week. Wonderful.

Not quite so good news re Australia though; while it's great to see the back of John Howard, new PM-elect Kevin Rudd is an anti-choice, homophobic Bible thumper whose first speech as leader praised "third way"-style ideologies to the skies. His policy on the Middle East will doubtless please the nominally "left-wing" islamophobes who hang around in such as Harry's Place. Hmmm. Wonder what his views are on "biometrics"?
