I wanna be a producer...

I went to see The Producers at the King's tonight and it's FABULOUS. It's the best show I've seen in ages. I wasn't going to go because it involved Joe Pasquale, but he was actually great as Leo Bloom, and Cory English was just stunning as Max Bialystock. It was stupidly, stupidly funny, and the sets, the costumes and the choreography were all brilliant. Roger Debris was played by Allan Stewart, who is allegedly famous around these parts, but I only vaguely recognised him. He was fun, though, and had an absolutely marvellous dress... The show's on till Saturday, and you should totally go. And take me.

Why have I never encountered Geoffrey Chaucer Hath A Blog? It's great. Latest entry is Chaucer - Holy Wood Scabbe. He's writing screenplays during the writers' strike. There's a bit about Doctor Who, too.

Rock, Paper, Shotgun has an interesting article about gaming addiction and whether it exists.

The Rock Band game sounds quite good - similar to Guitar Hero, but with a whole band. Track list is nice, depends what the gameplay is like, I guess. It's designed for PS3 and 360, so possibly won't work ideally on the PS2. Should be out in Europe in early 2008, apparently.

The Chaucer blog was mentioned in one of my lectures on Chaucer, I've been addicted ever since. The "serpentes on a shippe" synopsis had me crying with laughter :)

The first time I read Chaucer's blog was right after Brokeback Mountain came out, titled "I wolde I knewe how of thee I might be Quitten!"

Glad to hear it was good- a friend of mine's in it so I've been hoping to hear good things about it. I still need to try and find time to go and see it.

Allan Stewart was famous in the 1970s, and in the 1980s once scowled at me while walking through Candleriggs. (Nearly the same spot where Billy Connelly did the same at a different time.)

Come to think of it, I've also been scowled at by Alex Salmond. Wendy Alexander once smiled at me, but everyone else famous apparently hates me...

I went to see the producers on Friday night. Was bloody good, even down to Joe throwing the script up and it landing perfectly on the pile, and then him looking bewildered as he wasn't trying to. Hehe.
