Go go go Goran

Ahhh. Series 2 of Heroes is bedding in nicely. This week's was full of beautiful camera work and camera and editing effects. And some lovely further interconnections, too. Just what I needed to relax after a fairly hideous shift at work - we're so busy/ badly organised now that we have people working on last-minute things that they haven't had any training in. Which is going terribly well, obviously.

I saw a little thing about parkour today, and I'm very tempted by it, if I knew of anything like a beginner's class, which I don't. It's a sort of sport, but more like a cross between a martial art and free running, if you've seen that. It's finding the most efficient way to cross spaces and get places. There's some good videos here.

I also saw Goran Ivanisevic in that weird tennis tournament thingy on Channel 4, and realised that from some angles he reminds me a lot of Christopher Eccleston. Mmm. Which amused me, because I fancied Goran long before I'd ever heard of Chris. I went looking for pictures to see if I could find one where they looked similar, but could only find a little one. But I also found one where he looks like Peter Petrelli, oddly.

I have a very random memory of, I think, the 1994 Wimbledon, and Goran sitting under the umpire's chair at a break and licking his lips. I liked his tongue. It's lovely, look!

And one with his arms. Mmm.

Yes, OK, I've stopped now.

andrewducker found the horrible, horrible trailer for the new, straight-to-DVD Dragonlance film. Done in...He-Man-style animation. Bwuh? I would totally have gone to see a decent Dragonlance film - I know the books are technically D&D tie-in nonsense, but I loved 'em. I say loved, the third one still makes me cry, tragically enough.

Homonym of the day, for magda_vogelsang, from the BBC, no less! I went to check the Rangers/ Barcelona score because I wanted to know if the drunken arseholes outside were cheerful drunken arseholes or not, and discovered this gem: "Rangers began the match in spritely fashion..."

If you want some more eye candy you can watch online (and haven't already seen it) check out Blood Ties. It's a TV series (on Lifetime, of all channels) based on Tanya Huff's 'Blood' series of books.
You can watch all the previous episodes online for free here:
And new episodes are added after they air.

In the menu on the left click "Full Episodes" then "Blood Ties" and go to the second page for the beginning of the first season.

I read the books last year, but only just heard about the show and have been catching up. They take place in Toronto and feature ex-cop turned P.I. Vicki Nelson, her former partner, homicide detective Mike Celluci and vampire Henry Fitzroy, bastard son of Henry VIII.

I usually don't like shows based on books I like, but I'm actually enjoying this one. They've managed to preserve both the characters and the humor of the books. Okay, they did change Henry's career a bit; in the books he writes romance novels (under a pen name), whereas on TV he pens graphic novels.

I actually just heard about this the other week and downloaded it - haven't watched any of it yet, though! I love the books. And I can't believe they've made Henry a graphic novelist, heh.

Yeah, at one point he makes a comment about drawing Celluci being eaten by hellhounds.

A lot of good one liners thrown in, which is always fun.

Argh! Where're the kids and Dungeon Master? *dismayed*

I cried when Raistlin died. I was reading in the bath at the time!

Good Lord ! Goran is the bastard offspring of Claude theinvisibleman and Peter Petrelli. I wonder which one carried the baby ?

Oh, you know it was Peter. He's so the girl.
