News update

Simon Pegg to play Scotty in the new Star Trek movie, according to Variety. Zachary Quinto is Young Spock. I might actually have to go see this one.

Doris Lessing receives the news that she's won the Nobel Prize for Literature. Ha. Best reaction ever.

I am fairly disturbed by Christian Domestic Discipline: Loving Wife Spanking in a Christian Marriage. People are weird. It would be nice if this was a spoof site, but...it doesn't seem like it.

I see Kelvin McKenzie was being a tit on Question Time last night. Glad I didn't watch it. Might go and investigate the viewer logs, though, see how many complaints he actually got! And he actually called Gordon Brown a socialist. How right wing do you have to be to think that?

ha! Great minds and all that. Simon Pegg as Scotty! wooo!

Perhaps one day they'll decided to let a scotsman play him?

Heh, yes! I can't think which Scottish actors would be good, though. Maybe PC Plum...

He'd have to wear his kilt though.

I'm now in love with Nina, from Nina & the Neurons. Mmmm.

Yes, indeed! Still, at least he didn't go for Communist, I suppose.

I am fairly disturbed by Christian Domestic Discipline: Loving Wife Spanking in a Christian Marriage.

Insofar as I am aware, there isn't a word in the Bible against BDSM.

If you're amused by CDC then you'll go nots for this:

When Rape Is A Gift. Aaaargh. Scary, scary people.

Although the content of that one makes it entirely clear that it's just roleplaying. The serious bits of the site are much scarier to me.
Oct. 12th, 2007 07:19 pm (UTC)
It sort of does, but what it says about why "she" might want to roleplay that seems...freaky.

Ha ha, snap.

As long as the wife is the submissive, anyway.

There should be more about BDSM in the Bible, I feel.

Lessing's reaction is genius, so very cool "Oh, crikey".

SB and I did watch QT-McKenzie fluffed his point, he could've made it very easily by pointing at voting numbers, but he didn't, he just made it sound like he was being a racist twit, which he probably is.

He did seem quite proud of the fact that the Scottish Sun doesn't run his column.
Oct. 12th, 2007 12:17 pm (UTC)
What was his point? Just that Scotland is subsidised? Bah. That point annoys me every time.
Oct. 12th, 2007 12:29 pm (UTC)
It was essentially that Brown is a tax and spedn socialist, and he's appointed another Scot to replace him as Chancellor, another tax and spend Scottish socialist.

I'm not saying it was a good point, he spent the whole show playing to the gallery making cheap populist points, but I think his intent wasn't de facto racist, just very much "the SE/London is the wealth creating bit, Scotland isn't".

A point that plays well to his core audience, white-van-man in the SE and a bunch of city bankers.

Ah, I suppose so.

He was on Reporting Scotland tonight to answer the complaints, and apparently just said he stood by everything and Scots are all lazy. So I guess he needs publicity for something!

I am just endlessly amused by Christians trying to use the Bible to justify their kinky lusts.

Word up, nutjobs - spanking between adults is not discipline, it is not going to have anyone thinking seriously about their behaviour and then changing their ways, it is pervy and you are all great big pervs just like the rest of us. Now go back to your bedrooms and tie yourselves to your washable crosses and resume fantasising about being whipped by Romans with nothing on under their togas.
Oct. 13th, 2007 07:28 pm (UTC)
No, no, it's not pervy when THEY do it, obviously. Ha.

I'm always amused by these kind of Christians, in quite a patronising way. Heh.
