Yes, it feels like a Sunday

Not a wonderful day so far.

Colin McRae has died in a helicopter crash. They haven't formally ID'd the bodies yet, but there doesn't seem to be much doubt it's him. He seems to have been piloting the copter, too. Four dead altogether. McRae was a great rally driver, and always seemed like a really nice guy. Sorta weird that he died in a crash, but not a spectacular rally crash! Edit: BBC doesn't say, but other sources are claiming that his five-year-old son died, as well as a friend and their son. Bugger.

Also I have burned my arm by being dim and reaching over the boiling kettle to get to the toaster. D'oh. Ouch.

And it's been raining heavily for many hours, and isn't showing any signs of stopping, or even slowing down. So no going out to take photos today. I'm trying to avoid even going round to the shop, to be honest. I need all sorts of things, but I can probably live without them till tomorrow. (Good lord, I just looked out the window, and there was a man JOGGING. In the pissing rain. Some people are just far too keen.)

I think I'll watch Dexter instead. If I can figure out what I've done with the disc...

I met Colin in 1991 (I think it was) when he was just breaking through into the British championship and was still very much 'Son of Jimmy'. I spent quite a while talking with him while his car was being fettled in a service area and he obviously loved his sport, was keen to talk about his hopes and ambitions and was particularly keen to point out that Subaru were going to be a very, very major force in rallying - at the time the big old Legacy wasn't quite delivering, but Colin knew what was to come... A good bloke and sadly missed.

Now that's sad news. Not only because he was a world class sportsman, and seemed to be a decent bloke, but for the fanilies of those involved.

I can't say I knew much about him apart from having heard the name. Hugs for that, the rain, and the lack of photographic possibilities. *hugs*

Thank you :) The rain went away, and I still didn't go out, heh!
