HTML frenzy

Strikethrough revisited: LJ have been clarifying what content would be prohibited under "illegal and harmful activity". And then clarifying some more. One of the major sticking points seems to be the whole "fanfic about under 18s" problem, but this statement buried in the comments (from an Abuse Team volunteer, mind you) is hopeful: "Is the *focus* and the *point* of it that the characters are underaged?" That seems to be the only thing that will get you banned. With any luck.

Best Heroes fanvid I've seen yet - most of the cast, to "I Feel Pretty". Fabulous choice of clips and edited really well.

A "post a picture of a flower" meme is going around - I saw it via dakegra and ciciaye. I couldn't think of flowers I particularly like or that cheer me up, but then I thought, cauliflower is a flower, right? I think I've posted this picture before, but here you go again:

Lots of people seem to be having a bad time right now. Memish thing from tamnonlinear

Wow - what is it in the air lately? Post after filtered post about how everyone is feeling alone, disconnected, unwanted. It's not like this is one or two people - it's like a rash all over my friends list the past few days. Male, female, betwixt, undecided, unconcerned...it seems to be an equal opportunity Brain Weasel.

Clearly, something needs to be done. I think we need to have a Brain Weasel Stomping Day.

The problem, as I've noted before, is "it's easier to see the Weasels when they're eating someone else's brain." So this is my call to my friends list, and to your friends list, and beyond. This Friday, make an effort to squish someone's Brain Weasel.

Have a crush on someone? Post a flirty comment in their journal. Admire someone's skills? Post a comment about it. Just think a person is nifty? This Friday is the time to tell them. Doesn't matter if the post your commenting to doesn't have much to do with your comment. Just post those good thoughts. Trust me. People will appreciate it.

Do this for everyone - not just those you suspect are feeling down (After all, you might not be on their Brain Weasel filter). Take a few minutes and help launch people into the weekend with a smile. And...who knows? Maybe sharing how others make you happy will make you a bit more cheerful in return.

From nwhyte,

Your Score: Linear B

You scored

You are Linear B. Even those who can follow you think you're all Greek to them. Which, after all, is true - Linear B being the first known text for written Greek. To most people, you're incomprehensible. But what do you care? You're tough, hard, long-enduring and have greater nobility than most. Naturally, you don't admit to borrowing extensively from your brother Linear A.

From andrewducker,

Harry Potter dilemma: I'm working at 10 tomorrow. Do I get up early and go into town and buy the book, risking that there'll be stupid queues and I'll be late for work? Or do I wait till lunch break (about 3pm, probably) and go along to Asda to get it cheap, risking that they've run out, OR that there'll be stupid queues and I'll be late back to work? Hmm.

Ah yes, the fractal cauliflower.

They look great, but I've never brought myself to try eating one. They're just too freaky.

I don't think I've ever seen one in real life o_O I would have been quite scared if I saw one before I knew what it was! They don't look natural!

I had one, actually. Tasty.

(Mmmm. Tasty but Freaky. _Good_ combination *grin*).

I know exactly what you mean about the disconnected and ooky thing, too. Got a bad case of it myself at the moment. My brother has too, and he's about as intuitive as a brick. Can't be a good sign...

My picture of a 'flower' was actually of my sister's cat, Poppy, asleep in a plant pot :-)
