Layering

So I went out to buy boots this afternoon. Predictably, I've come home sans boots, but with a swimsuit, among a variety of other clothing and a small pile of books. I haven't had a swimsuit in, er, probably ten years, and haven't been swimming for about 14 years, maybe. But I'm going to a beach in Spain, so I felt I should get one.

I'm scared to try it on now.

I also have two little skirt things to wear with it, because yay for '20s-style bum-coverings. And a floaty top, too. Apparently I'm going to be seeing how little flesh I can show on a beach. Probably wise, since my arm is still peeling from that trip to Regents Park two weeks ago.

I'm going with a bunch of blokes I do know, mostly, and a couple of girls I don't know. I bet they're all skinny and feminine and already tanned. Bleh.

I've come home sans boots, but with a swimsuit,

Well, the flooding is getting rather bad. It was probably a wise move :o)

*snerk* I nearly bought some wellies as well. I may go to T in the Park in the swimsuit and wellies - seems the most practical thing to do.

That'd be one way to get on TV.

We'll have to watch out for you.

I am quite tempted by wellies, only they're so big to cart around and we're going on the bus.

Also, you have just given me disturbing mental pictures, but yes, I should stop being silly.

If they're skinny, they can't be that feminine. Real women have curves.

And you could always cheat by using that self-tanning moisturizer stuff.

Good point, yes.

I've never tried self-tan stuff...the moisturiser sounds interesting, I'm sure if I tried the normal ones I'd go streaky. Or orange. Or I could go to one of those places where they spray you!

Apparently the secret to using the ordinary self-tan stuff is to scrub and exfoliate your skin thoroughly before applying it. Get rid of all the old, dead skin cells first, then you have an even 'canvas' to apply the tan to.

The moisturerizers are more subtle and build up a light tan over several applications.

Not that I've tried either myself. I just stick with the 'pale and interesting' thing.
