Formula 1

Whoo! Lewis Hamilton wins the US Grand Prix at Indianapolis and is 10 points clear in the driver's championship.

I like having the big TV screen on at work. Heh. Got laughed at earlier because I'm sitting at 90 degrees to the screen, and I had my head turned, watching the GP while I was touch-typing subtitles for the People's Quiz. I'll have to check in case they have random "Alonso is a second behind"s in the answers, or something.

Edit, re big screen: Put it on BBC3 to watch Who again (it's a bit of a lazy Sunday here at work), and left it on that...only to be utterly distracted from a brief attempt at actual work about 15 mins ago by the Little Britain sketch with Sebastian snogging the Prime Minister - Anthony Head. Hee. (I always forget it's ASH who narrates the Confidentials, too.)

It was a pretty good race, and an awesome result really. He's had seven races, been on the podium for all of them, and won two. Yet I'd almost have been more surprised if he *hadn't* won. Geez.

Reckon he can go all the way and win the Championship in his first season ?

I was pleased to see Felipe Massa finish ahead of Kimi Raikkonnen again. I just can't warm to Kimi, but Massa's kind of sweet. Kimi probably thought he'd be leading the championship at this stage, with M Schumacher retiring and Alonso leaving Renault.

And after the race, Alonso did a creditable job of not looking like he just sucked on a lemon. Bless.

Hee. Yeah, he seems to be quite remarkable. I wouldn't be at all surprised if he wins the championship, actually, though they didn't seem to sure about how fast the McLaren actually was today.

I can sort of see why Alonso's annoyed, because they do have 1 and 2 positions in the teams - which I don't agree with - so it must be frustrating to have your number two ahead of you. But he has been coming off a bit petulant.

> Alonso is a second behind

Ralf Schumacher has a second behind. He talks through it ;P

Heh, I didn't hear what he had to say, but I wouldn't be surprised. It was him who took Coulthard out this time, wasn't it? I've been impressed with Coulthard this season, he hasn't been whining so much about it being NOT FAIR when he's forced to retire. He is horribly unlucky, though.

Yay! Not because I was watching but more because it might mean another bottle of champagne on the sweepstake thing that Nick does at work. He won last week.

Did you get to the see the painful pre-race interviews with the pit lane model/eye candy and Pharrell Williams. Urk, like watching The Office but worse.

I saw a bit of one with the model - "So what do you do?" "I, er, stand here and look gorgeous..." Very bizarre!

Having an IDTV I was able to switch to the cricket on Radio Five Sports Extra at this point so I didn't have to hear the rest of his 'deep and meaningful' questioning. :-)

I thought it rather hilarious that she quite bluntly said that her job was to stand around looking decorative. I don't think Martin Brundle was expecting that kind of response.
And there are harder ways of earning a living after all. Like starting an interview with Pharrel Williams.
