Quote of the day: Rearrange "subtext" and you end up with "buttsex". Ha. So true.

Invention of the day (and I can't believe I haven't heard about this before): Fab@home 3D printers. Like, a desktop machine that will make things for you. It "builds 3D objects by carefuly depositing materials drop by drop, layer by layer. Slowly but surely, with the right set of materials and a geometric blueprint, you can fabricate complex objects that would normally take special resources, tools and skills if produced using conventional manufacturing techniques." They seem to be mostly using plastic just now, but hey. Very cool, very reminiscent of the matter compilers in The Diamond Age.

Mail of the day: Title deeds to new flat! Yay!

Slightly tangential language thought of the day: "mail" and "post" have the same meaning in two senses (verb and collective noun) and a different meaning in the computer sense (singular noun for two different things, as well as mail being a collective noun). Oh, and I suppose you get gateposts and things too.

Email of the day: Leave granted for two weeks in July. Whoo! (Well, leave granted for two weeks in August, because I am an idiot. Leave in August cancelled, leave in July applied for, leave in July granted.) So I can go to T in the Park AND go to Spain. And I'm going to London in June. And I have ten days off from tomorrow to move house. I love the extra holiday allowance I get for working bank holidays.

Music news of the day: Spinal Tap to reform for Live Earth!

Squee of the day: Heroes!!! Was so good!!! I can't be any more coherent about it yet.

Squee of yesterday that I forgot to mention: Christopher Eccleston! In the library spiderpixie works in! I am so jealous. (Christopher Eccleston! Library! Is there a better combination of things in the universe?)

Plan for the rest of the day: Eat chocolate, read all 33 pages and counting of the Heroes episode thread on the TWoP forums.

Cheers! I've got my current flat for a few more weeks so it's all going to be quite leisurely.

I haven't actually oganised ANYTHING apart from some packing yet, because I'm not going to believe I really have the flat until I get the keys.

And I was staring at the typo "oganised" there and trying to resist deleting the comment to fix it, and it came into my head that "organised" could mean "made into an organ". (I was thinking a church organ at the time, but now I'm thinking about, like, lungs.)

Sorry. Today my brain has the weird.

I remember reading about the open source fab project a while back - glad to see that it's still going. The prospect of semi-affordable 3D printers is absolutely awesome. I'm actually tempted to suggest to the Strathclyde geek society that they attempt to build one of these, hopefully with funding from the Union and/or Uni...

Oh, also: Lego 3D chocolate printer - four words that I never really expected to see together...

Congratulations on the flat :)

3D printers seems so...futuretech! But the Metro article I read this morning (and I can't believe I'm getting my tech news from the Metro) seems to think they'll be available kind of soon. And the guy making it wants to make them self-replicating and give them away :D

The Lego thing is very cool. And thanks!

I had a Mickey/Jake icon that had a similar buttsex quote once. *g*

Did you see the Weakest Link special? Anne was talking about Mickey running off with Jake to Paris, and Noel was like "Nooooo! They were fighting Cybermen!" Hee :D
