Stayin' out for the summer

It's so sunny! I've worked ten-hour days for the last three days, so while I'd noticed the warm sunniness, I hadn't actually experienced it. But today I've wandered around town and to the supermarket and the doctor's and things, in a T-shirt. Had to dig out my sunglasses, too.

Missed half of what my lawyer said because we were talking in a posh boardroom with hundreds of really old books that I was drooling at...I'm sure it wasn't that important. Ahem. There were also a couple of bronze (I think) things on the mantelpiece that looked a little bit like hole punches with big levers on top. I thought they might be for putting wax seals on envelopes, but I'm not sure. They were very, very cool, though, and I kind of want one.

So, everyone (us, Iran, and the US) is saying that there was no deal and it's purely a coincidence that the US has allowed the Red Cross to see the five Iranian "terrorist suspects" they've had imprisoned since January, and are probably going to let them have consular access, on the same day that Iran releases the 15 British sailors. Hmmm.

Heh! Wow. Yeah, this is the nicest April we've had in...ever. Usually it doesn't get this warm until May at least.

Click on the Forecast link and see what we're expecting for the next week or so too....

My poor dwarf iris and daffodil bulbs had JUST flowered, and now they've been frozen. And my perennials had a lot of growth up, which is now going to die. The forsythias had just started blooming too, and my viburnum has big fat flower buds, which I hope will still open, but I'm not counting on it.

If it were just going to be this cold for one night or a day or two I'd have covered things, but for as cold as it's going to be for as long as it's going to be, that wouldn't do any good.

High today is supposed to be 1 degree Centigrade, O tomorrow, 1 again Saturday and 3 on Sunday. Lows are -7, -7, -6, -3. We have a chance of snow all 4 days, and have already had a few flurries last night and today.

My poor plants.

Urgh :( You have a smiley sun on Monday, though! Only partly hidden by clouds...

big things with levers were probably company seals - we had tons of them when I worked for the law firm. They've got the company name + number which you press into official documents, kind of embossing it into the paper. They're great fun - a lawyer friend of ours has a couple at home for her daughter to play with. I can never resist...

They're usually dirt cheap too - I think we used to pay a fiver for ours.

Ooooh! They totally were, I found some pictures... They were like this one, but older. I really want one now. But not for £200, which that one is. But you can emboss books with them!
