Going out

I went out to the pub last night (!) for a friend's birthday drinks, which was fairly brave considering I don't really know any of his other friends. And...it was OK, and there were very cool bits, yet it also reinforced my "I'm crap at socialising" complex. On the one hand, there were three ((!) again) people there who'd worked on series 2 and/ or 3 of Doctor Who. I talked to a costume designer for a bit, but...I have terrible trouble finding things to say to people, especially when I think they're interesting and grown up and way, way cooler than me.

The friend's a guy I know from school, and there was one other girl from school there, who I *always* have trouble talking to, I don't know why. And then I feel bad about not finding her very interesting, because we were friends when we were, like, eight. There was also one of his flatmates from uni, who I used to have a major crush on and eventually snogged at a party. Which, er, pretty much ended my crush. Think Wesley and Cordelia, but worse. Unfortunately he was sitting near the door, so whenever I looked up at the door - ie, whenever someone entered the pub, more or less - he noticed and, I'm convinced, thought I was staring at him *sigh*.

Ah well, I'll just have to go out more often and Practise Small Talk. Which sounds fun.

Same here. Small talk sucks. I'd prefer to avoid such conversations and social occasions if at all possible. But it's col you met some Who people. :-)
