Nothing on the TV...

Meeja roundup...

I've been watching Party Animals, the new drama from the Beeb set in the world of political researchers and lobbyists. It's quite good, I guess, but it seems so...straightforward, somehow. I can't imagine going on to the internet and discussing the latest ep for hours - what would you talk about? Their clothes? I suppose there are probably things to analyse that I'm just not really seeing. It has got good music, though! The first week's ended with the Flaming Lips' Do You Realize. I didn't register what it was last week, but this week it was Made Up Love Song #43 by the Guillemots, which is really pretty.

Then after Party Animals Fyfe from the Guillemots was on Never Mind the Buzzcocks. It was the one that Preston from Ordinary Boys stormed off, and I was nearly put off watching it by the bloody continuity person on BBC2 who was making it out to be the news story of the year - "The shocking incident the whole country has been talking about - coming up next!" sort of thing - but it was absolutely hysterical. The random guy being pulled out of the audience by Bill and being told he was pretty by Madge-from-Neighbours was great. Buzzcocks is back to the kind of greatness it had in Mark Lamarr's first two seasons - it really needed an injection of fresh blood and Simon Amstell is fab. Can you get Buzzcocks on DVD? Hmm. (Answer: No. There's one ancient video release from 1998.)

I suspect only a very few of you will know why, but I'm highly amused that the programme numbers for all the Wogans being shown by UKTV currently include the letters TOG.

We are enjoying Buzzcocks again ..Mark Lamarr just became so bitchy that it wasn't funny anymore :)

Oh and the ancient on from 1998 ...we were in the audience (if it is the one with Jonathan Woss) and the bits they didn;t show were hysterically funny :)
