It's all good

w00t! In an update to this post, the bill which will allow gay couples to adopt in Scotland has gone through. The amendment meant to stop same-sex couples adopting was defeated 98 votes to 11.

I use w00t for the first time in ages to pay tribute to the fact I saw it in a book yesterday! A novel, not a "Look at the funny words those internet users use" book, of which I also have plenty. It was in Vicious Circle by Mike Carey - the same Mike Carey who writes or has written Lucifer, Hellblazer and X-Men comics. Vicious Circle is the second in a series - The Devil You Know is the first. Felix Castor is an (ex-)exorcist in a London where, in the late '90s, the dead started coming back in greater numbers than before, and everyone started noticing them. It's got nice world-building logic behind it, it's reasonably dark and gritty, has a reasonable amount of humour, has good characters and a nice sense of place. And because that place is London, the books are a bit different to their, er, spiritual forebears - early Anita Blake books, the Harry Dresden books, Tanya Huff's vampire PI series and so on. And he used w00t with a perfectly straight face. Yay!

Watched the first couple of episodes of Life on Mars tonight, and it looks pretty good. Only 8 episodes, though! I'll have to pace myself.

Do you know where one can access the voting record for bills? I assume its about somewhere on the Scottish Parliament site but can't for the life of me find it.

I found a bit in the FAQ that says:

Voting records
Information on how MSPs have voted can also be obtained by using the MSP voting records request form.

So I'd guess the info isn't online anywhere.
