Who polls

For miss_s_b, among others:

Doctor Who Dynamic Rankings.

Rank Doctors and episodes. (Every ep ever, if you have time!)

There was a Doctor Who Magazine poll about the best Doctor which Tennant won, beating Tom B by a couple of percent and everyone else by miles. For my view on this, see icon. Not that fussed, mind you, because it's only the novelty factor - it's like when Oasis were winning all the Best Album of the Millenium polls, and Robbie Williams won all the Best Single ones. Ah, 1999.

(Who buys DWM anyway? I've bought it precisely once, when it had a funky Tardis alarm clock as a free gift. And it had colouring in pictures in it. So, there's a demographic to take seriously.)

(Edit: Oh, I was thinking of Doctor Who Adventures, apparently. DWM is for grown-ups. Er, in that case, I've NEVER bought it.)

Poor Sylvester. Trailing all that way towards the bottom because nobody remembers the later stuff like when he took on the Gods of Rrrragnarok, or destroyed Skaro, or tricked the Cybermen.

Oh! That reminds me, I...er...acquired a huge pile of DW audios. Must put them on CD or on my mp3 player, or something.

I think I bought one of the special edition DWMs, with the full-length Nine comic. Maybe.

Oasis...have a few songs I like. But only a few. Also, yay Carpenters!

I buy DWM too. Sadly Sorvad has been on holiday or locked in the sauna or something for months... but I'm enjoying the guest presenters.

I guess all polls are biased towards the new stuff. I don't mind that, it's natural, but it's when people start going "This means Ten is Teh Best Ever and it's official" that I get annoyed. Which, er, nobody has done, I don't think, so maybe I'm being grumpy about nothing :D

Ooh, the Cosgrove Hall stuff looks good.

For sure, they're all either novelty or nostaligia. Tom B only comes second because, iirc, he did it longest. I bet there are very few objective voters on this one.

I suppose it's the same with most polls for this sort of thing, really. Ah well...

I'm not really sure it's possible to be objective in this sort of poll.
