Torchwood

Was on the Torchwood forum on TWOP and found a lovely eggcorn - mellowdramatic. Hee :)

Tonight's Torchwood: A bit patchy but overall goodness... Yay for Jack and Ianto, um, timing themselves shagging? *worried look* about the Jack/Gwen schmoopiness with the cheesy love song, though. Hmmm. Jack does "tv driving", wiggling the steering wheel all the time. Mind you, given the way they came down the middle of the street at the start of the ep, it might actually be how he drives. If Gwen was going to be marvellous with the glove it would have been better if someone else suggested using it - she doesn't have to do everything, FFS. And the "No, we can't use the glove" "Oh, go on" "OK then" was...stupid, really. So, the theme of tonight was It's All Everyone's Fault. I noticed in the car that Suzie's chin wound seemed to have gone, so I'm glad it wasn't just a production cock-up. Yay for subliminal triggers and poetry, though now I come to think about it (and sorry, to the people who hate all the Buffy comparisons), S6 Spike much?

Edit: And by 11.30, there's already a stopwatch drabble and a stopwatch icon. I love fandom. And it also makes me laugh a lot.

"it might actually be how he driver" This from the grammer nazi? Oh wonderful, i'll attribute it to you being distracted of Jack and Ianto doing indecent things :)

As to the buffy link, i really think you're reaching for the link to be honest. THe subliminal triggers are a pretty common thing in a lot of shows, not just sci-fi/fantasy, which use them quite a bit.

I was more jarred by susies apparent preknowledge of being able to be brought back to life so arranged this plot to get out. We also add into this the very convenient timing of Max triggering the lock down after susie was out and before the rest got out.

Oops :) Fixed...

The Buffy thing, I agree I'd be reaching if this was the only time it had happened, but there's been quite a few of these now. But like you say, most of them are common plot devices.

Yeah, I'll need to watch it again in case I missed some explanation, but Suzie's plan seemed a bit unbelievable.

the_warwick has pointed out that (amusingly to a small proportion of us) the ISBN used in the show was in fact not Emily Dickinson but The Oxford Book of Quotations. Bad scriptwriter! Silly actors, not noticing that it is in fact printed on the book...

Hahaha, brilliant. They should *know* that fans are going to check these things.

Eeek. Turns out if you don't put a web address between the ""s in your link, it links back to the main page of whoever's reading it. Fixed now :)

I honestly don't think there's that much sex in Torchwood, and even the implied stuff that there is we don't usually see. We've only seen the AlienSexMonster in ep 2 actually having sex.

Exactly what I thought..really good bit of acting, really convincingly barking mad..you can believe that she could come up with an idea like that..and think she could pull it off! Love the icon! :)

My money's on them having secret games of strip chess.

Well, they could be ...
