SF Britannia

My Message Center has gone mad. All it's giving me is "(Invalid entry) (Comment on a deleted entry)", which, OK, but since there have been tons of these since I first checked, the entry is obviously not deleted. Aaaargh. I think I can remember all the entries I was tracking anyway, though.

Tonight is the start of BBC4's Science Fiction Britannia season, yay. At 9pm is the first part of the "The Martians and Us" three-part documentary about British SF writing, and I highly recommend it. It's smart! It's about books! It's got amazing talking heads, whose opinions you're actually interested in! It's got creepy children! It's got Nigel Kneale as a talking head, awww. I thought it'd be dedicated to him, but if it is they haven't given us the tape with the edit yet. Also, if any of you know Stephen Baxter, ask him to TALK MORE SLOWLY on TV. Otherwise he will be tracked down and killed by angry subtitlers, as soon as we've finished tearing Ainsley Harriott limb from limb.

I also got to have a quick look at the first episode of the Triffids this morning - it's on tonight as well, I think. Heh. Still so damn spooky, though more because it reminds me of how freaked out the book made me than all on its own merits.

Yay, Triffids! It's on at 8.30, I've set a reminder. I might watch the Dr. Who 'Spearhead from Space' ep too.

I'm sooo jealous :) According to the freeview website we can't get it here yet. I miss BBC 3 & 4, you have no idea how relieved I am they put Torchwood on 2 on Weds :)

Hope you're well hon!!!

No freeview? Argh! Heh...I thought you could get it everywhere now.

I know!!!! Especially seeing as the south west is going to be one of the first areas to change over.

From what I can tell it is just Penryn that has this problem (in terms of towns anyway), everywhere else seems to be ok. Bastards.

The nice lady in Argos, who lives down the road says there are folk in our street who have freeview despite the website saying otherwise. But I don't want to pay £20 simply to find out; I need to temporarily steal someone else's freeview box methinks :)

I'm watching this now: it's awesome. I don't suppose there's any chance you could email me a transcript of the subtitles ...?

Yep, have just mailed them to your LJ account email - hope that's OK!

Oh! I've been getting lots of those (Invalid entry) (Comment on a deleted entry)" too!
I kept thinking that it was an odd thing that a deleted entry could
be commented upon.Hehe.

I'm getting them for comments on this entry now, so I assume the notification system's just screwed. Ah, well.

Only the first episode of Triffids apparently, so says my RT.

Which is so mince, I didn't bother to watch last night.

Surely the BBC wouldn't use it as a trailer, so that people would buy the DVD?

Bah. That's not much good. The BBC website is being distinctly unhelpful about what's actually on in this season, so I didn't realise...
Nov. 14th, 2006 12:32 pm (UTC)
Ah, wait! They're on weekly - at least, episode 2 is on next monday. Yay.
Nov. 14th, 2006 02:06 pm (UTC)
Ah... bum. I'd have watched it last night if I'd known.

Now where did I get the idea that this SF Britannia was just a week-long thing?
