Links and Friday Five

Random selection of YouTube links (because YouTube is taking over the WORLD):
Scott Walker singing Jackie (by Jacques Brel, thanks to marysiak for the link)
Walker Brothers do The Sun Ain't Gonna Shine Any More on Ready Steady Go.
Marc Almond doing Jackie in a strange electropop '80s way.
Divine Comedy - I've Been To A Marvellous Party - this is a brilliant song (a Noel Coward song with in the style of Born Slippy, more or less) and truly fabulous video.
My Lovely Horse from Father Ted, by the Divine Comedy.
Everybody Knows by the Divine Comedy, cos I forget how great a song it is.
Kids In The Hall "I'm Crushing Your Head" sketch because it's the only comedy sketch (apart from Billy Connolly) that's ever totally stuck in my head.

I want to go and see Tenacious D in December, Divine Comedy in October, and...hmmm, several other people I noticed in the Metro were playing, but have currently forgotten. Must get hold of a gig listing thing. Oh, the Pipettes in October, I think. Anyone interested in any of these?

Friday five from fiveforfriday:

1. When was the last time you felt really out of place?
Someone's leaving night recently, when everyone was bitching about someone I like.

2. You've just won a thousand dollars, what are you going to do with it?
Well, I *should* be putting it all into my flat-deposit savings account, but I'd probably put 1/2 or 3/4 of it in there and buy some shinies with the rest. DS games are my current addiction.

3. You've got a crush on someone, what do you about it? (supposing you're not married etc. If you CAN act on the crush, what do you do or not do?)
Heh. Nothing, mostly. Or very very vague hints.

4. Best method of world domination? (strategy, how you plan to take over etc.)
Hmm. I should think inserting some sort of a mind-control drug into caffeine, before it gets put into the various caffeinated beverages, would be quite effective.

I'm not really into world domination though - it seems like it would be a lot of work.

5. Best kinds of posts on LJ?
Rants :o)

I crush your head! I crush it!

I never saw that on tv, but my friend and me do that to each other everytime we see each other, have done ever since we first met. Thanks for sharing!

Hee, I love it. There was a whole series of sketches with HeadCrusher Man, and I think quite a few of them are on youtube.

I can't find the original of Jacky though.

That saxophone solo has GOT to go. ;)

No, apparently youtube doesn't have EVERYTHING. I couldn't find the Billy Connolly big slipper sketch the other week, and was very annoyed.

The Marvellous Party video was cool - was there ever a proper video for it?

I'm tempted by Divine Comedy - I've seen them four times before and never been disappointed.

I'm not sure - I seem to remember a proper video, with two enormous microphones that Neil swapped between.

I think this tour should be great, because they've already toured the album once this year, so there should be more of a variety of stuff. And it's in the ABC, which is a fab venue - far better than the QMU.

Not been to the ABC as a venue - I tend to go see things Edinburgh-side, or in the Barrowlands if I'm going to Glasgow (and once to the SECC, to see Metallica, which wasn't great as it was seated). What's it like?
