Junk Mail

From drplokta via purpletigron comes the news that a postman has been suspended for telling the people on his run how they can avoid getting unwanted junk mail.

If anyone's interested, to stop unaddressed advertising mail, email optout@royalmail.co.uk with your address. To stop unwanted advertising mail that has your name on it, register at the Mail Preference Service. And while you're at it, don't forget to register with the Telephone Preference Service too, "telephone preference service" being the only words of English that many of the middle-eastern call centre employees seem to recognise.

Was out on Sunday night for spiderpixie and pooka_joe's leaving do, as they're moving to Cornwall on Thursday, and got drunk for the first time in about two years, I think. Hungoverness yesterday was bad. I still feel crappy today, but I wasn't THAT drunk, so I think it's psychological. Bah. Heading out tonight to a blues jam with them anyway...but not drinking.

Now if only I could find the US equivalent of the ending junk mail...

But what if you still get stuff after you sign up to these services? Particularly the royal mail one?

Then you complain to them! Doing that to someone who's only answering a question and being helpful is despicable. Though I can see why, bearing in mind the RM gain revenue by posting the aforementioned junk mail. However, I was very amused this morning when GM TV were broadcasting to the entire nation how to stop junk mail. Hee. Now instead of them quietly having a word with this guy and only losing a little of their junk mail money, they're on their way to losing a lot more. Bwa ha ha ha!
