How do they rise up?

Just to add to all the lilac on my flist - it's 25th May!

Remember.

Also in a spirit of remembrance, it's Towel Day. (I like this - maybe if we keep all our special days on the same day, I'll be able to remember them better.)

Does the lilac refer to Oscar Wilde? Or am I just totally dense and missing something very important?

I plan to this summer! I've got Mort as a recommended one to start with.

Okay ^_^ I felt like I must be missing some important worldly event!

Ha! :o) No, it's just that most of my flist are Pratchett fans, it seems. Mort is great! It's probably the one I'd recommend to start with too. And you'll love Wyrd Sisters...

Most of the world seems to be pratchett fans :) I am really looking forward to reading some.

Thanks for the recommendations!

I'm not. I really struggle to get into most of his stuff. Robert Rankin, now there's a man with my sense of humour...

any titles in particular that you'd recommend? I'm always on the look out for some new reading!

Good ones to start with are probably:

The Antipope. The first of the Brentford books.

Nostradamus ate my hamster. Surreal.

Armageddon the musical. The future, aliens, Elvis, time travel and a guy called Rex Mundi.

Ugh, I can't get into Robert Rankin at all. At least, I didn't mind some of the Brentford stuff, but the Sprout ones just did my head in...

That's the problem I have with Pratchett. I've read an enjoyed Johnny & the Bomb and the Dead, I love Good Omens, The Science Of Discworld books are good. I just can't get into the Discworld thing.

I've read the one where Death goes missing. I had to finish it, but it didn't make me want to rush to read more. I've started The Colour Of Magic at least four times, but given up with it and I lost my copy of The Fifth Elephant in Frankfurt airport - I can't remember if I was enjoying it or not...

I'm not a Pratchett fan, either. I read Equal Rites and Weird Sisters on someone's recommendation but wasn't especially impressed.
