Who again

I've just read the "people" part of my friends list, and already it looks like last night's Who was fairly divisive in terms of opinions. It's been "this year's answer to The Empty Child", but also the worst thing ever, ever, ever. Opinion seems to be split but vehement.

I'm going to go get coffee before I brave my communities...

(FWIW, I thought it was wonderful. And I can see how people might have little niggly problems with it, but if you can't see anything to like at all in that episode, then...if I was you, I'd just stop watching Who and go back to Trek or something.)

What do they say was wrong with it?
I thought it was great. I'm going to watch it again tonight!

*goes off to read your friends list*

The person who hated it most was coalescent and people on his comments page. They complained about the acting, the pacing, the script, the direction...

I think coalescent hates everything to do with Doctor Who on principle, though. I'm not entirely sure why he keeps watching it...

Maybe he likes getting angry? It's the only explanation I can think of...

Egad.
All that was good.
And for the FIRST time, I wasn't pissed off at the presence of Rose's bloody awful family.
It was kind of funny the way this is perhaps the first one to follow the old-style Doctor Who plotline: companions get split up, one group finds the rebels, the other gets entangled with the baddies.

Definitely watching it again tonight!

I thought Jackie did a particularly good Babra Windsor Carry-on-esque scream over the top of her balconette when the cybermen started after people. I haven't laughed that hard in ages.

Just to make sure I've got it right.... this is redatt replying to a comment in pickwick's journal, right? Or is it the other way round...

I liked it! And personally I thought it was this year's answer to the Father's Day. What is everyone else thinking?

Oh, there weren't any spoilers? I managed to switch it off as soon as the credits started cos I thought there were going to be spoilers!!

No - they did the credits first, and then they had a warning saying "if you don't want to be spoiled look away now" which is when we turned off. But then apparently they forgot to put the trailer on anyway :o)

And I should think not. They already have encouraged us to watch nexty week by adding a cliffhanger!

I didn't see anything really wrong with it, but it didn't grab me.

It should have, after all it had both Cybermen and airships, but, as someone else has said on LJ... meh.

I'll have to watch it again - I watched it with a bunch of people and there was a lot of squeeing and giggling. But I'm pretty sure I liked it, despite a few "Eh?" moments.

I watched, with a friend, from behind a sofa cushion, having decided we had to dismantle part of the sofa because normal cushions weren't big enough to hide behind properly. Then again, the -really- early Cybermen are absolutely one of the scariest things in Doctor Who. Even if johnbobshaun thinks they're silly looking!

And I have my sticker album! No stickers yet except the free ones, but I intend to remedy that tonight...

I'd only seen pictures. Having seen the way they talk now...

I was wrong.

Nah, to be fair, seeing the old ones on Confidential, they *were* silly looking :o)

Nononono! You're both so very wrong. They're -terrifying-.

Strange people with lost childlike terror...

I've got my sticker album too! Haven't found anywhere selling stickers yet - I'm trying to resist buying shedloads on ebay.

RS McColl. I managed to buy 6 packs on my way home from work and stick them ALL in my album! No doubles so far, but then I only have 36 out of 208(?) stickers I guess.
