Yum Yum

For miss_next and anyone else who hadn't encountered yumyums, here is one:

Yum. Er, yum. This happens to be the one I just bought. (It's actually a kind of double one; usually they've only got one bit.) You'll all be pleased to know, however, that it is an afternoon snack, and I did manage to have a tuna baguette for lunch.

Note to everyone in my building: Doorways are not meeting rooms. Neither are narrow corridors. If you must stand and chat in a doorway or corridor, if people need to get past you then at least apologise and move aside, don't just glare at them!

Yeah...I was finding it really hard to explain the other day!

Gosh. It looks huge. And a bit scary...

Thanks for the photo, anyway! :-)

It is *slightly* huge, but it's very light...possibly choux pastry, but I'm bad with cookery knowledge!

As far as I know, they're just rectangular glazed donuts... choux pastry is the stuff profiteroles are made of, which usually has big holes in it from rising. You do get donuts made from choux pastry, though - usually the cream ones.

They really are yummy.

I thought it was a different kind of pastry from doughnuts, but I'm not sure! And don't know what kind of pastry doughnuts are made from, anyway.

Argh. People Are Stupid.

I was at the train station the other night and the person in front of me was carrying a suitcase - one of those with a handle and wheels. It was pretty busy but when she got to the top step, she stopped immediately and proceeded to sort out her bag, the handle and other stuff. Just carry on a few steps OUT OF EVERYONE'S WAY and do that. Please.

Argh! I think I would have pushed her back down the steps :o)

Doorways are not meeting rooms. Neither are narrow corridors.

Ohhh, this is soooo one of my pet peeves! It's one thing that they're clueless enough to be blocking the doorway/aisle to begin with; but when they then either ignore that people are trying to get by, or even act put-out... argh!

Lovely snack, though!

I know! It's just, like, WHY???

Oh, memories!

Every Saturday I used to meet a friend of mine in Glasgow and we'd end up in the little cafe at the back of Candleriggs Market. I'd have tea and a snowball, and he'd have coffee, a bacon roll and a yumyum.

Sadly, now the friend is living in Brazil, and the cafe is no more, since the thriving market with all its interesting stalls was converted into some Yuppie place with overblown restaurants and potted plants. :o(

Ohh, Candleriggs market, yeah, it was excellent! I hate the potted plants place.

You sure that's not just a deep fried Twix?
May. 10th, 2006 08:58 am (UTC)
*stares at it* It's quite a *big* twix, then. Possibly from Pimp My Snack :o)

Looks like an oversized crueller to me.
May. 10th, 2006 08:59 am (UTC)
Ohhh! This could explain a lot - I've wondered what cruellers were ever since Wayne's World talked about them.

Twisted or braided doughtnut dough, fried and covered in granulated sugar is the classic style. I've also seen glazed and covered in powdered sugar.
