Ooooh - now that Doctor Who's made it to America, Television Without Pity have started recapping it. Recommended for recaps that'll make you laugh out loud! (Er, I haven't read any of the Who ones yet, but all the other shows I've followed on TWoP - Buffy, Angel, Lost, Firefly, Veronica Mars, etc - have had hysterical recaps.)

I have just fallen foul of the "no tone of voice in internet communication" AGAIN. I did an academic paper on this about 7 years ago; you'd think I'd have learned by now. Do not swear at people on messenger, they can't hear that you said it with exasperation-cum-amusement. (At the moment I'm too mad about the actual debate we were having to apologise - I'm sure I'll manage it later.)

My notes from a 1.5 hour work meeting today:

"I'm fully across X"
OH outsourced to Capita (not ours)
WE LOVE CHANGE

and some doodles. Why do I bother taking a notepad? The first one was a turn of phrase the guy kept using where I'd use... "I'm on it", I guess, or "I'm fully informed about..." or something. The notion of outsourcing occupational health to Capita amused me because they're generally held to be so crap at everything else - why would you trust them with your health? And we were being informed that there would be no change in the high amount of change we'd continue to be seeing in the next ten years, or something.

Yes, "across it" irritated me too. What was wrong with "I know about..."?
