Actual content! (OK, and more memes.)

So, that Johari window thing has really taken off, so obviously, the site has fallen over. I do plan to go back and fill in everyone's that I can't just now - probably on Monday morning before the Americans get up. Here's mine again, in case you want to fill it in. *puppydog eyes*

There are mousetraps with mars bars on them in the kitchen now, and cotton wool with oil of peppermint. Sounds like the start of a song - # Mousetraps with mars bars and fluff that smells minty... # I went to Crockets the Ironmonger for the traps, after a recommendation from a friend I bumped into in Fopp, and it's the best shop ever! The A-team could make *anything* out of the things in that shop. Anyway, apparently mars bars are the best for putting on mousetraps, cos they stick to the pin so the mouse has NO chance of just grabbing the food and getting away.

I just finished The Kindly Ones, the second last book in the Sandman series. Sob. Must get The Wake as quickly as possible. And then re-read them all. And then make icons...there's a very cool quote about librarians I want to make an icon from! Also, I must get around to typing up the rest of the books I read last year (I do have them in a notebook somewhere), and put more onto LibraryThing. I was in Borders today too, and saw The Conjuror's Bird by Martin Davies at half price cos it's on Richard & Judy's book group this week. This is weird and strange, because he's one of my upper level bosses, and we didn't know he wrote or anything. The reviews on Amazon are good, though one of them thinks it's like The Da Vinci Code and the other one talks about the wonderful writing, which seems a bit oxymoronic. Anyone read it, or going to read it for the book club? I'd be interested to hear what it's like!

Oooh, and I bought the Buffy game for PS2. Now I really need to get back in the living room. I can make Giles do anything I want...

And some links.

A blog that tracks misuse of the word "literally". It's literally the best thing on t'internet.

A very strange game involving Eschery stairs and cancerous cheese. I think it's funky, but I haven't quite got the hang of it.

Another strange game where you can be a werewolf or a vampire. I'm a vampire called Louisa, and I have 54 minutes left to work.

Your Candy Heart Says "Get Real"

You're a bit of a cynic when it comes to love.
You don't lose your head, and hardly anyone penetrates your heart.

Your ideal Valentine's Day date: is all about the person you're seeing (with no mentions of v-day!)

Your flirting style: honest and even slightly sarcastic

What turns you off: romantic expectations and "greeting card" holidays

Why you're hot: you don't just play hard to get - you are hard to get

Also, the reason I'm for gun control is that if I had a gun right now, I'd blow to bits the car outside whose alarm keeps going off.

Isn't that an argument against gun control?

If Mars bar doesnt work..try Snickers..much better..like us mice love nut/choc/caramel combo..though avoid big bits of nut..gives them chance of swiping a meal without being caught..

Oooh, good plan. Haven't caught anything with the traps yet, so we think they're gone anyway, but I'll bear it in mind!

Steel wool with peanut butter smeared into it (so they have to tug on it) worked quite well the one time I had a mouse in the house (only one, as it turned out). A friend of mine who's had a lot of experience in that area swears by it.

A-ha! Well, we have steel wool now too, and I think we have peanut butter. Excellent. Haven't seen any mice in days, mind you, so I think it's just paranoia about the normal noises the flat makes now...
