Today is a Good Day!

- I got to work on time - nay, early! First time in months. (I usually turn up looking flustered within ten minutes of when I'm meant to be starting.)

- There was an email saying that our Evil Big Boss is leaving. Heh. And it sounds like she's leaving under some kind of cloud - the email was a bit arsey.

- I have hazelnut latte.

- I'm going to see kashandara in My Fair Lady. Whee!

- I've had enough sleep for the first time in four or five days. This might be contributing to the general yayness.

Another slightly alarming email, though, saying, "BBC is announcing today that, subject to the provisions of the legislation, the normal retirement age for BBC staff will be changed from 60 to 65 with effect from 1st October 2006" because of government legislation that's going through. I would have thought they'd bring it in over ten years or something, not just "No, you have to work for another five years. Sorry." Not that it matters at all to me, since it's at least 30 years away and I don't work for the BBC any more anyway, but I still don't approve.

(Should I f-lock this? No idea. Hmmm. Naa-a-a-ah...)

Erm... You are? Mr N hasn't been in touch to confirm, so if and Mr D are both still coming I might be a ticket short... will have to consult the orbitals...

Well, if there's still tickets I am. Was in touch with Mr N yesterday about it, finally! He and Mr D are both still coming, from what he said. Are the tickets just general or do they specify seats?

They -are- but I might be able to fudge something if I ever hear back from the other two people who have still to confirm if they want tickets for that night or not. Friday isn't likely to sell out though so I suspect if necessary I can take back the 2 I already have and swap 'em for 3 instead...

Your next mission, should you choose to accept it, is to find a way for Mr N to pay for aforementioned tickets so I don't have to cover them for another month and can eat ;-)

Mr N was bragging about the available funds he has in his account, probably due to full time hours and still at folks.

I'm sure he'll be able to pay up when needed :D

Cool, let me know!

You don't have Paypal do you? Or I could transfer money straight into your bank if you want - internet banking is a wonderful thing!

If you mail me your paypal email address and the amount I can do that, then! Cool.

I'm thinking I might not stay for the wine and food thing because I want to get back to Glasgow that night, cos I think I'm gonna have to finish a costume for a party on Saturday night! I'll check out trains and stuff, though.

Actually, the retirement age is going to be even higher than that withing a decade or possibly two. Current thought is 69. Not putting it up at the moment is going to be exactly the same as companies holding down gas price raises now then putting it up all at once in a few years time rather than spreading it out.

Yeah, I didn't mean wait a while and then put it up all in one go later, I was more thinking, you know, let the people who are over 55 now retire at 60 if they want, then the people who are over 50 now retire at maybe 63 if they want, and stagger it that way. Just so that you don't make such a huge impact on people who have been budgeting for entirely the wrong retirement age!
