BBC Trails

You know that BBC trail that's been on the telly with the big head made out of all the little heads? This one?

Well, it's been pulled. The BBC are just saying it's finished its run, but P2P Net say it's cos people are scared by it. And Freelance UK has more complaints - apparently there's been over 400 (Edit: 1,300, apparently! Well, that's more than 400...).

So it's not just you, spiderpixie!

Good, 'cos it was horrible! Not actually scary, but just grim - a bit like the bogey-man made of worms in Nightmare Before Christmas</a>.

Heh - I really liked it, but I was aware I'd had an advantage in that I'd subtitled it, so I'd seen every frame of it in slo-mo before it popped up unexpectedly on telly.

I didn't see it! I feel cheated. It looks brilliant.

(Best Dramatic Presentation Short Form, anyone? ;-)

It does seem to spook people out slightly. There might be an interesting psychology paper on why :o)

I think for me it's the idea that each person within the head isn't really a free individual, but part of a dominating whole. Like a herd of human sheep.

Yeah, I can see that - disturbing. But that's quite a thought-out reaction, and a lot of people seem to have an instinctive "Ick!" thing about it - I wonder if we're *that* predisposed towards individuality naturally?

Surely "a herd of human heads"? I've never seen sheep do that.

You've never seen the amazing acrobatic sheep? Poor deprived soul!

I'm sure the bbc.co.uk news said there had been 1,300 complaints.

I rather liked it. Funny, and original. Something we don't see enough of.

I didn't like it either, it dug up old and very vague (but still disturbing) memories of one of the stories in Clive Barkers Books of Blood.

In the Hills, the Cities... or something like that.

That's exactly what it reminded me of too, and that story creeped me out!

I'm glad it's gone. I wasn't scared of it, just found it really revolting.
