Reasons to be Cheerful

For a Monday, five random reasons to be cheerful:

- I've started my Christmas shopping! Well, to be exact, I've bought a pile of books, some of which I'll probably give to other people. So, books for me, AND productive Christmas shopping! Two-for-one.

- I have a day off tomorrow that I'd forgotten about. (I'm working on Thursday instead - swapped with someone.) So, yay! Random time off is good. Maybe I'll go shopping. I want some black trousers.

- There were mails waiting this morning from two of my best friends who I've been utterly shit at keeping in touch with. I'm seeing them both soon. Fabness! Also includes a possible visit to the panto, and also to see Guys And Dolls. (An amateur Glasgow one, not the interesting, Ewan McGregor-related one.)

- It's freezing cold, but all the ground is white with frost, and the sky is clear and blue, and it's pretty. Prettier than yesterday or the day before, when even my firefox weather forecasty thing didn't have any icons and just said HAZE in big letters.

- There is a website where you can print out things and fold them up to make cool things.. I like the Papercut Of Death. (PDF link) I want an army of them for my desk.

Why are you cheerful today?

18-wheeler Scammels, Domenecker camels
All other mammals plus equal votes
Seeing Piccadilly, Fanny Smith and Willy
Being rather silly, and porridge oats

*blink* Is that meant to be going on about fannies and willies, or am I just perverted? And oats too!! Good god. The filth!

How dare you accuse His Late Mightiness Ian Dury (and indeed his Blockheads) of filth! (lyrics extracted from that great work "Reasons to be Cheerful, part 3").

And yes, you are perverted. But we knew that.

And worse, I misattributed the lines to Gilbert & Sullivan in my head :)

*looks innocent*

Confusing Giblets & Sullivan with music is probably some kind of sin. Take your pick of penance: forty five Hail Marys or five episodes of Flog It! to subtitle.

Eeek! If it was Cash in the Attic, I'd think about it (pretty Alistair Appleton...) but I think it'll have to be the Hail Marys. (Or should that be Maries? Hmm, no.)

cheerful reasons today:

1 - marie anne quit at work, which means i dont have to fire her
2 - i have more money in my bank account than i thought
3 - last night's Vampire session went really well
4 - for all its faults, christmas is coming and i am starting to feel childish exuberance

which is all good :)

Heh, yay! Though I'm upset at losing my head-demon.

I have more money than I thought I had too. At least, usually by a week after payday, it's diminished far more quickly than this. Which makes me concerned I've forgotten to pay something vital...

more reasons to be cheerful
1. I've got a day off next Friday, so a short week/ long weekend beckons.
2. I had a really nice lunch (fancy chicken wrap from Safeway) instead of the usual canteen muck.
3. I've finished nearly all my work.
4. Saw my fella last night, which always makes me happy.
5. And I'm seeing Squarepusher on Friday night as well.
