Torchwood

Cautious w00t!!age...

From the Independent:

"The BBC has commissioned the Doctor Who scriptwriter Russell T Davies to make an adult post-watershed spin-off of its most famous sci-fi show. The new programme will be called Torchwood (an anagram of Doctor Who) and will follow a crack team investigating alien activities and crime in modern-day Britain. It will feature in its starring role John Barrowman, who played Captain Jack Harkness in Doctor Who and who will play the same character in Torchwood." Read more...

BBC3 controller Stuart Murphy says, ""Torchwood, at its centre, is about relationships and love and overcoming adversity. And it will be funny." Torchwood, a team of investigators who probe crime and alien activity on behalf of the government, will be namechecked in the Doctor Who Christmas special and again in the next series of the BBC1 show. Will this post-watershed series feature X-rated activity in the Torchwood equivalent of the Tardis? "People have affairs. There will be sex and swearing, I assume. I'm quite relaxed about that," says Murphy. (From here.)

You can only make in 20 min or 45 min lumps if you plan to sell to the US (45 mins + ads = I US TV hour.)
I wonder though if this might be more serial - a la both QAF and ye olde Dr Who. I hope so!

If people are going to be having affairs etc it suggests that there will be a larger story arc. I certainly hope so.
