Hyphenation

We have large new dictionaries at work (because the covers have fallen off most of the old ones), but I'm disappointed in them. They don't have Pacman, and now they're not telling me whether "bell end" should be hyphenated or not. People *need to know* these things.

According to the Profanisaurus (2002 edition) "bell end" is spelled thusly, with no hyphen.

Although I think that the hyphen should be there, as the words "bell" and "end" are arguably associated in this context. It just goes to show that so much about the way we write language is dependent on our own opinions.
