Questions

Today, my googling skills are failing, so I'm going to ask the hivemind instead.

1. Anyone know a good, relatively unbiased site about the USA's environment policies and failings?
2. Podcasting software. Recommendations?
3. I'm looking for a list of crystals/ gems/ ores etc and their uses. Mainly in protection, and also shapes - like, is an amethyst ankh better than just an amethyst or an ankh? But I need one that's kind of straightforward and uses normal language, otherwise I'll just roll my eyes and sigh at it.

And a Question Of The Day: Tell me something that's restored your faith in human nature, in the past week. Mine is having a wonderful flatmate - I just want to say, spiderpixie, you're a star!

Podcasting - This maybe isn't as helpful as it could be, but I use the basic sound recorder that came installed with Windows XP. I also have a crappy made in Taiwan kind of microphone that works SPLENDIDLY so long as you don't sit TOO close to it and there's not tons of background noise. Anyway, so I record it with Sound Recorder and that makes my podcast into a .wav file.

Then I use CDex, a program dakegra recommended to me and I downloaded somewhere, to change the .wav file into and .mp3

Here's a link for CDex - http://cdexos.sourceforge.net/

For listening, but I'm quite tempted by broadcast now too! I just want to get some of the BBC stuff, but they say you need podcasting software, and I don't trust their recs.

ipodder is pretty good (and free) but if you've got iTunes, use that. I use it just for the podcast feature - can set it to check and download automatically and so on. But then again, so can ipodder

I don't have iTunes on this computer - it kind of annoyed me when I had it on the laptop, though I can't remember why offhand. I'm using WinAmp now, anyway. But I'll check out ipodder, cheers!

Question of the Day
The chap who runs an open air stall selling plants and flowers two days of the week. He always says good morning to bypassers and this morning I bought a little white heather plant from him. We chatted about plants for a bit and he wished me a good weekend.

After a week of either having problems with online ordering, or with parcels not turning up, this man and his flower stall made me intensely grateful that I could buy something and have some proper human interaction at the same time!

That there are people out there who think I'm worth more than I do myself..
