Memery

I will do a Newcastle post. And a book post. But for now, a meme, via roobarb:

Do you get crotchety and gnash your false teeth at all those memes that ask, “Have you ever kissed someone?” “Do you have a fake ID?”

Do you want to swing your zimmer frame when you have to try to make a sensible response to, “Do the other girls ping your bra strap in PE class”? This meme is for you. Feel free to answer if you’re under 30 but past spin-the-bottle, obviously.

1. What bill do you hate paying the most?
They mostly get paid automatically. The ones I most hate paying are the ones that come through the post for some reason and I have to actually remember to do something about myself, but I'm slowly automating them all too.

2. Where was the last place you had a romantic dinner?
I can't actually remember. I can only EVER remember having one romantic dinner, and I can't remember where it was. Somewhere near George Square.

3. What do you really want to be doing right now?
Chilling out on the internet. Oh, huzzah!

4. How many colleges did you attend?
Two, assuming by colleges you mean universities. (Maybe we can do a British meme sometime too.) University of Strathclyde for my BA, and Paisley for my PGDip.

5. Why did you choose the shirt that you have on right now?
I am wearing this t-shirt. I chose it because hey, zombie-pirate-ninja-unicorns FTW. And because dermfitz takes the piss out of me about unicorns (see icon).

6. What are your thoughts on gas prices?
I don't know why people expect the prices not to go up, and it all sounds like entitled whining to me, really. But I don't drive, so I probably just Don't Get It.

7. First thought when the alarm went off this morning?
"................why didn't the alarm go off?" Turned out I left the shutter open on the camera bit of the phone so it ran out of battery. And I wasn't back near a charger for like 12 HOURS. Crisis.

8. Last thought before going to sleep last night?
No idea. I tend to go into weird stream-of-consciousness stuff before I go to sleep, and then sometimes I try to track it back in my head and figure out how I got to a particular line of thought.

9. Do you miss being a child?
Nope; although my childhood was pretty good, adulthood is better.

10. What errand/chore do you despise?
Apart from all of them? Ironing, I guess, because it takes so long and THERE ARE STILL WRINKLES.

11. Get up early or sleep in?
Is there an option that goes later than "sleep in"?

12. Have you found real love yet?
"Real love" yes, in several different ways; "true love" no. Not that I think it exists, really.

13. Favorite lunch meat:
Chicken, I suppose. Ooh, or chorizo.

14. What do you get every time you go to the supermarket?
Ready meals for work, sigh.

15. Beach or lake?
They're both a bit....outside. Also, depends. Crowded beaches are horrible, and some lakes are lovely, but generally I'd say beach.

16. Do you think marriage is an outdated ritual?
Yes, but that doesn't mean I'm against it, as such, or that I'd never do it. (Although I did recently find out that the "marriage is defined as a union between one man and one woman" bit is mandatory even in civil marriages, which makes me grumpy.)

17. Sopranos or Desperate Housewives?
Neither, but if I had to choose, Sopranos.

18.What famous person would you like to have dinner with?
The thought of having to converse for an extended time with any famous person (or almost any unknown person, really) leaves me mute and anxious. Theoretically, Stephen Fry, I guess.

19. Have you ever crashed your vehicle?
I don't have a vehicle, but I walk into things quite a lot.

20. Ever use a fire extinguisher for its intended purpose?
No, and I've never used one for a non-intended use, either.

21. Ring tone?
All Along The Watchtower by Bob Dylan. Might need to change it again soon.

22. Strangest place you have ever brushed your teeth?
Nowhere strange enough to register, obviously.

23. Somewhere in California you've never been and would like to go?
Wherever it is anonymous_greg lives. (Unless he's in Florida, in which case, San Diego for ComicCon.)

24. At this point in your life would you rather start a new career or a new relationship?
Relationship. (Because starting a new career is even scarier.)

25. How old are you?
32

26. Do you have a go-to person?
Several, I suppose, for different things.

27. Are you where you want to be in life?
In some ways I am, other ways I'm not, like most people I guess.

28. Growing up, what were your favourite cartoons?
Gummi Bears, Family Ness, Pigeon Street, Dogtanian, 80 Days Around The World. Fraggle Rock and Bagpuss if they count.

29. What about you do you think has changed the most?
Confidence in myself, I suppose.

30. Looking back at high school were they the best years of your life?
6th year was pretty good, but in general, no.

31. Are there times you still feel like a kid?
Well, I don't particularly feel like an adult, so I suppose. Especially any time I have to sort house stuff out.

32. Did you ever own troll dolls?
Hee, yeah. Little ones, that went on the top of pencils.

33. Did you have a pager?
Nah.

34. Where was the hang out spot when you were a teenager?
If we weren't in someone's house, then in the local playpark, for some reason. Or the golf course.

35. Were you the type of kid you would want your children to hang out with?
I'll take that as a general "you", since I don't have or plan children. Mostly, yeah. I was polite and did well at school and read a lot and was more or less resistant to peer pressure. But I was also smart-arsed and asked lots of questions and threw up when I got nervous, which would be less cool.

Life's too short for ironing.

I've got a washer-dryer so everything's tumble-dried with the machine slightly too full and comes out creaseder than a very creased thing, otherwise I wouldn't either. Maybe I should follow the instructions on the machine regarding how much should be done at one time.

Ahh, I don't have a tumble dryer - so hang everything to dry and hope for the best!

I don't have enough space to hang more than a couple of things! Usually woolly jumpers.
