Huh. Heroes seems to be threatening to get good again, which is unexpected. And Dollhouse starts on Friday - I have no idea whether to get my hopes up or not.

Something that IS good is The Big Bang Theory. Geek sitcom glee! I can't believe I managed to miss this somehow, but I happened to work on one of the second-season eps the other day, and now I'm racing through watching the first season. It's very funny - especially if you know a lot of geeks, probably. Most of my friends ARE Sheldon and Leonard. (So am I, for that matter.) Nice to see Johnny Galecki again - I always loved him in Roseanne - and to see him working with Sara Gilbert again. YAY.

And the theme song is by the Barenaked Ladies and is great.

I was playing Worms 4 last night too, which was "interesting", since I've only ever played original, 2D Worms. Although I have played that a lot. Once you get the hang of the 3D-ness and camera angles and things, it is still Worms, so it's obviously awesome. Oh, the fun you can have with a sentry gun. And I didn't lose as badly as I might have, since laerad and mind_expander were too busy attacking each other to notice me, mwahahaha.

I need to get hold of season 1. Time to dust off the torrent client.

It's pretty fast to download, happily.

Vuze is suggesting about 10 days for the entire season 1. Can that be right?

I don't use Vuze, but if it's anything like utorrent, the ETA will constantly change to reflect the current download speed, or the recent average - so it might start off at 10 days but it should speed up. I think mine took about 7 or 8 hours, if that. (I used a complete season 1 torrent from mininova...)

Yeah, this is the first sitcom I haven't just cringed through for a very long time.

(Well, I have sort of cringed through it, but for different reasons. I identify with it too...)

They got me hooked within 2 minutes. Any show which has jokes string theory or loop quantum gravity was bound to do that though.

Heheh, totally. I managed to miss its existence completely, so you can imagine my shock when I had to do another-bloody-sitcom at work and discovered it was GOOD. So I came home and downloaded the whole first season and the first 11 eps of the second season that night.

I was pointed in the direction of The Big Bang Theory over Chritstmas. Managed to watch the whole first season in two nights thanks to Lovefilm, and S2 is still downloadable via torrent. It is without doubt superb.

I've been getting my hopes up about Dollhouse. I hope I'm not disappointed, but then I've tended to love everything else Joss has done.

Do you know what time it airs in North America on Friday? Just wondering when the torrents will be available.

I imagine torrents will appear a few hours after is has aired. Sometimes torrents appear before it has aired, although I have no idea how.

Unfortunately, it has been stuck in the Friday night slot of doom on Fox and is scheduled at the same time as Terminator. I give it 8 episodes at best.

Me too, but for some reason I'm worried about this. And they've put it in the Friday night Slot of Death (on Fox!), so I'm not sure if I want to get too attached to it anyway.

Seems to be on at 9 in the US, which usually means it turns up at half two or three UK time on torrent sites. Wiki says it's actually going to be shown about 10 hours earlier in Australia, so it might turn up earlier, but I can't seem to confirm that. Hmm.

Great, thanks for the timing info. I'll start looking for it Friday night to see if the Aussies have anything up. Which reminds me, I'm behind in my BSG downloads too. *fires up uTorrent*

Yeah, it's probably doomed, isn't it? The networks seem to hate anything Joss does. Maybe he should just start putting everything out in webisodes, a la Dr. Horrible. But I suppose he wants to make money or something. :o)

Bah, these people who want to, like, feed their family and stuff. Ridiculous. :) I am worried that it's doomed, it's a bad confluence of signs (Joss + Fox + SF + Friday night...)

Fox + Anything = CANCELLED. It seems to be a tactic to clear the schedules for another series of America's Top Supermodel's Got Talent While Dancing on Ice" or something, which costs a fraction of the price to make.

Seems like it. I don't know why they don't just make the crappy reality TV in the first place - and whether that would be better or worse in the long run for cult TV. Might mean another channel gives series a chance and they could last longer, might mean they never got on TV at all.

Season 2 of Big Bang Theory is best summed up in the closing line of one episode: "Dr Sheldon Cooper for the win". The closing scene of the latest episode with XXXXX and XXXXX playing YYYYYY together was hilarious.

One of my friends was the geek-checker for a recent episode, too. Bastard, why couldn't it have been me?

At this rate it won't be long till I've caught up :) But Sheldon FTW, totally.

And "Big Bang Theory geek-checker" is one of the best job titles ever, I think. Nice job. And their geek checkers do stunning work, I'm continually amazed at just how geeky it is!

Heroes is definitely improving. We, too, were surprised. Thanks for the Dollhouse heads up. Also will check out The Big Bang Theory. (Or rather assign dibsy the job of downloading it - there's a strict division of labour in the Nibley household when it comes to downloads.)

Hey, are you watching the Sarah Connor Chronicles? We love that show. Starts again on Friday (yay! but also now relegated to the Friday Night of Doom on Fox - but this might improve Dollhouse's chances).

I thought the same about Heroes these last two weeks. Let's hope they can keep it up.
