Help!

I've lost my TV remote. (Again. This happened with my last TV, too.) Anyone got any ideas about a universal remote that's likely to be usable with an Asda TV, without me having the original remote?

(Failing that, anyone got any ideas about where my remote might be? Waah. I've looked everywhere three times... I realised it was lost a couple of weeks ago, shortly after a major tidying-up, which makes me worry that I've managed to throw it out somehow. It wasn't a huge deal because I can still watch DVDs and watch things saved on my digibox, and I usually watch TV on the iPlayer, anyway. But now I want to play my Wiiiiiii, and I can't *sadface*)

Too bad it's not a talking remote control. *nods*

ACTUALLY that's what I need. Or a remote control that I can phone from my mobile and it'll make a noise, that'd be ace.

Um ... then you'd lose your mobile ...

But I can phone my mobile from my house phone! Or twitter someone else to phone it!

(The only problem comes if I've lost my house handset AND mobile, and they've both run out of battery...)

It'll be: behind a cushion: under the sofa: or under something that has been put on top of it (teatowels, magazines and books are all guilty). That's where ours always are. Unless it's under a dog.

I have looked behind many cushions and taken all the cushions off the sofas; I've poked about under the sofas (though haven't moved them yet cos they're both heavy sofabeds); I have moved everything around a lot. (And probably hidden it deeper under a pile of things.)

No dogs, but it's possible that downstairs' cat ran off with it. Evil cat.

I once managed to find an ex-bf's glasses for him. Several years after we'd broken up he phoned me (from another city) to ask if I knew where he might have left them. I reminded him of his habit of sticking them under the sofa when he took a nap and voila!

Since you've already looked under the sofa, I'm pretty much out of ideas. Ours is usually cunningly hidden in plain view.

Hahaha, that's awesome.

I lose my remotes frequently, but they usually are in plain view somewhere :( That's why it's taken me this long to decide that the thing is actually LOST this time.

I had to get a remote for my last telly - it was an ex-rental, so I think the remote had been lost. Anyway, I got a universal remote from these people www.partmaster.co.uk. I don't know if they're still trading but I seem to remember their website was helpful in finding one that was compatible with the telly. They were helpful enough that I've still got a business card lying about 'just in case'.

Ooh, they do still seem to be there. My brand isn't on their list, but they do say to email - might try it!

I think Asda sell universal 4 in 1 remotes? I think I got mine there (or maybe Argos) but it was close to my favourite purchase of that year!! :-)

D'oh! Yeah, there'd be a good place to start looking. My brain, it is mush. The website shows a 4-in-1 remote guaranteed to work with anything ever, apparently, for under £20. Just need to check it's not one of those ones where you need the original remote to program the universal one!
