Humanity is doomed

Bad thing! The pope is not only a bigot, he's an imbecilic bigot. Er, apologies for any offence, or anything. Can't remember if any of you are Catholic. But really: "Pope Benedict XVI has said that saving humanity from homosexual or transsexual behaviour is just as important as saving the rainforest from destruction." He thinks - or is professing to think - that homosexuality and transexualism/transgenderism is likely to cause the human race to "self-destruct". Aaaaaaargh.

Mega bad thing! (Yes, yes, priorities...) Whittard of Chelsea on brink of administration. But...but...but...that's where I get my flavoured coffee! What am I going to DO?!?!?! *panics* *flails*

Good thing, though: Stephen Fry podcasts about language. You might have read the blog entry, but it's better hearing him do it.

Minor irritation: What exactly was the "star" that led the Magi to Bethlehem? Scientists: Was probably a comet, supernova, planetary conjunction, etc, etc. Commenters: ZOMG NO IT WAS CLEARLY SUPERNATURAL. Me: Argh! It was a smegging invention, mentioned once, vaguely, in a book written decades after the event. It made the story sound good. (It is a good story.) The Magi probably didn't exist either - or the stable, for that matter - so the star's doubly irrelevant. Do some proper bloody work, Scientists. Like studies about coffee.

Happies later; I expect them to start with "brother eventually turned up to help me carry things to my parents'". Heh.

Celibate man worried about other people not procreating, too. The ironies are delicious.

Whittard's is almost certainly still a going concern in and of itself, it's the parent company that's got problems.

Having said that, if they've got that many stores, they've over extended and likely need to retrench, they're a producer of luxury coffee items, there isn't that big a market for them. I love Guatamala Elephant when I can be bothered, but it's a luxury purchase, not an everyday thing.

They'll still be about, and still do mail order &c, but probably less stores outside of bigger cities.

Fingers crossed! At least if the website stays open, that'll be OK. Easier to order things online than cart them around town, anyway.

I know. And I wouldn't care - free speech and all that - except that presumably people listen to him, and assume he's right :S

No, "cold is god's way of telling us to burn more catholics" to quote Blackadder.

I think Popey's probably upset that as a transsexual and a homosexual I recently declared my mission to save humanity from organised religion.

Or is he just a shithead?

He feels utterly threatened by you and is only lashing out in self-defence.

(Actually, that's probably true, but I doubt he realises...)

The Pope: Stupid ignorant twatmonkey. It'd be funny if it weren't so sad. I'm only a Cathoilic by baptism but I firmly disassociate myself with the Catholic Church, so no offence taken here!
