  • Via [info]white_hart, there are painted baby elephants all over Norwich. Look! There's one with a Tardis on its back, photo number 21. Hee. It's all gone a bit Discworld.
  • This year's Hugo award for Best Dramatic Presentation, Short Form went to Steven Moffat's Doctor Who ep Blink. Three in a row! La Moff FTW. Heroes season 1 got second place in the Long Form category, after Stardust.
  • The other notable winner was Scalzi getting Best Fan Writer - notable mostly, of course, because he's not Dave Langford, who's won every year since 1989...
  • Full Hugos breakdown here. (pdf)
  • The new Watchmen posters are very pretty.
  • There are floods all over Fife due to torrential rain. It's AUGUST. FFS.
  • [info]theyorkshergob is having Blog Awards - everyone else is, so why not? Go, nominate, pimp.

And Things:

  • WTF, Russia? I wasn't expecting the next crisis to come from there...
  • I read So You Want To Be A Wizard by Diane Duane, having heard good things about the Young Wizards series. WHY DID I NOT READ THESE BEFORE? I now have the next, um, nine or ten books in the series in my Amazon basket, and am just waiting till payday (bonus!!) to get them. (They're cheap - £3.50 each rather than £8 or whatever the going rate for a paperback is now.) Also must read other Duane series.
  • Talking of bonus - PS3 or Wii? Argh, the decisions... Wii Fit is very very tempting, though.
  • At the karaoke I can hear, someone is ACTUALLY SINGING Donald Where's Your Troosers. Again I say, WTF?

If you opt for PS3, I can highly recommend Eden (fiver from the PS3 online store), which has had me totally hooked all weekend.

I'm dithering about getting a Wii mostly for the Wii Fit, I have to admit...

I'm trying very hard to convince myself I don't need both, heh.

Yeah, I'm definitely more and more tempted by the Wii.

The only thing I would say is that it can get tiring XD

Having played both? Wii. No contest.

I now have Donald Where's Yer Troosers in my head, you sod. As recompense I demand you pimp my blog awards. And nominate some poeple. Go, now!

Mwahahaha. Well, there might be some Americans who've never heard it, and who am I to deprive them?

And ah yes, I was coming back to nominate after I'd thought about it. My blog reading outside LJ is pretty low these days, though there are plenty of LJers I can nominate...

That's cool, I don't mind it being LJ heavy.

Let the wind blow high
Let the wind blow low
Through the streets in my kilt I'll go
All the lassies shout...

You have the POWAH!

In a worrying chain of logic, I now need to go and make pizza for dinner, because of this icon.

I am having Evil Pasta Salad, mainly because I pigged myself in the pub at lunchtime...

Surely Dave Langford had won every year since 1889? It certainly seems that way...

"ZOMG, Scalzi won the Langford Award!"

Speaking of Russia...I had the oddest dream the other day...
All the countries had a person flying a spaceship and Russia
had this really HUGE spaceship and was playing music like they
did in Close Encounters of the Third Kind. So while everyone
was watching the show, the American ship, piloted by Will Smith,
of course, decided to leave. He was, like, 'This is booooring'.
And then the Russian ship open fired on all the little ships
and Will sees this in his rear view mirror(which every ship should have) and freaks out. Then he starts driving all loopy dee doo in order to escape the big Russian ship.
I was, of course, watching it from a monitor back on earth.
Along with Mick Jagger....hehe

Anyways, later on, when I was awake, I saw what was
happening in Russia and though 'weird'. :p

ARGH! Decisions, decisions. The PS3 allows you to have some great new games like the already-discussed (and probably extremely pretty) Soul Calibur 4, but the Wii is a great all-round entertainment system and you can use it to get fit. I'd be as indecisive as you, trust me! :)
