Truly beautiful to behold

I really shouldn't be allowed on TV Tropes. It's eaten up a good eight hours of my two days off, just by being bloody addictive. I've signed up now so I can bookmark pages, and I'm getting close to adding to them...

Anyway. Squee fodder from the last couple of days:

  • Friends Like These by Danny Wallace is another of his hilarious-yet-strangely-touching books about a silly boy project - this time, getting in touch with his 12 best friends from his various schools, before his 30th birthday. It inspires you to get in touch and try to keep in touch with people too, which meant I was happy when...

  • My best friend from primary school, who I usually see maybe twice a year, texted to see if I wanted to meet up for coffee - and her new bloke lives in Glasgow, so she should be around more. I got utterly drenched on my way to meet her, but didn't even mind. I think I'm coming out of my (two-year) social hibernation. Hurrah.

  • I watched The Sontaran Experiment with mind_expander last night. Sarah Jane squee! And we're going to do a Whomageddon weekend, and watch the entirety of the four series of NewWho. Cos that'll be awesome. We worked it out at about 42 hours, though, so it may have to be a long weekend...

  • Today I bought season 3 (Zavvi have it for £35) and Genesis of the Daleks (more Sarah Jane!) and Spearhead From Space (The Brig!!). That was me being restrained, incidentally. Torchwood season 2 is out! And Zavvi had many other oldWhos for about £8.

  • I also squeed at, but resisted buying, Takin' Over The Asylum, which has eventually come out on DVD. It's a Scottish TV drama starring baby David Tennant, from the early 90s I think. And it's much cheaper on Amazon, too.

  • Then I came home to find out the Brig is going to be in Sarah Jane Adventures. Whee!

  • This macro set on ihasatardis made me giggle a lot and plan more - "Rose Tint(s) My World" from Rocky Horror done by the Tardis crew.

  • And the new webisode promo trailer for Heroes is AWESOME. Sex, violence and Mama Petrelli. (Not all together.)

The Player

27% Anxiety Over Abandonment and 53% Avoidance Of Intimacy

You are most comfortable without close emotional relationships. It is very important to you to feel independent and self-sufficient, and you hate the idea of having to depend on others or having others depend on you. The very few times you have fallen in love, it was probably with someone unattainable and disinterested. You know how to have a good time with your friends, but when it comes time to bare your deeper feelings, you tend to laugh nervously and change the subject.

Fictional character with whom you might identify: Captain Jack Harkness (Doctor Who/Torchwood), Holly Golightly (Breakfast at Tiffany's)

I am Captain Jack and Holly Golightly...yay? Odd, since I answered No to the casual sex bit, but the rest of it sounds pretty accurate, nonetheless.

LOL at the fact you described Danny's book as a "silly boy project" like Hanne of his books does! :D
