I should have more politics icons

I've been keeping up with the debate on the 42 days detention on the BBC's liveblog through its twitter feed, which again, living in the future.

Just saw this: "Home Secretary Jacqui Smith says Parliament had shown how it was a "formidable defender" of liberties and protections to ensure everyone in Britain could enjoy them."

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

Sorry, yes.

(I will reply to comments at some point, yes, too.)

Almost as funny as the just-breaking story about "top secret" counter-terrorism documents being left on a commuter train in Surrey... What a convenient smokescreen that could be for Brown IF MPs see sense and defeat 42 days.

Post I've been tempted to make.

Jacqui Smith: unfit for office.

Home Secretary calls upon MPs to stop doing their jobs properly and "trust her", ignoring the small point that MPs are required to not trust ministers as part of their duties of office.

FFS she's really bad. DUP apparently voting the wrong way, wonder what the deal was?

I really don't get this. Surely the focus should be on prevention rather than actions that can be taken after events have happened?
