Don't Blink

Stephen Moffat won a BAFTA Craft award for writing Blink. Hooray. I'm pretty sure he'll get the Hugo for it, too.

*waits for this year's Moffat two-parter with bated breath*

(If any non Doctor Who fans are reading this, the episode Blink is well worth checking out anyway. Pretty much perfect.)

Also, finally got around to sorting out photos from last weekend - here's some photos from London.

Fuzzy James Marsters!

Glowy Tardis with Tennant model (This was cool - the dummy only had vague impressions of a face, and then film of Tennant was projected over it, so it sort of looked like it was really Tennant talking...)

Albert's telescope from Tooth & Claw - this was probably the prop I liked most. It's HUGE and awesome and steampunk.

It must be quite disturbing seeing a self-portrait of yourself this size right in the centre of London. Oh, and it was an amazing show, too. Highly recommended.

I am currently "subtitling" the Proms, which means "listening to Tchaikovsky". Yay.

(Edit: note to self: "cadenza" and "credenza" are different, and if you mix them up on BBC Four, people will laugh and point.)

Pleased to see Moffat win the BAFTA, but a little disappointed that Tony Marchant didn't win for The Mark of Cain, which was quite wonderful, despite the best endeavours of some politicians to censor it.

I didn't actually see it, I must seek it out at some point.

How do you subtitle Tchaikovsky?
If there's any Elgar, I dare you to add a subtitle partway through that just says '*yawn*'.

You, er, put a label in saying it's Tchaikovsky, and then bugger off to LJ for 20 minutes while it plays in the background ;)

Today I have only Tchaikovsky and Prokofiev, thankfully.

That was second choice, yeah.
I don't know how people can stand it. And the way he changes themes sounds like spinning the dial on the radio.

Hell we will.
For starters, one is features in Dr Seuss, the other is not.

*frowns* I don't think BBC Four watchers read Dr Seuss. Too American.

Indeed. Or on Radio 3.

"Blink" was, indeed, a very good episode! Totally out of character for the show though, since it only featured the Doctor and Martha for a few scenes. But it was highly enjoyable and very tension-filled.

It was brilliant! I loved the ones where he was John Smith, too, but Blink was just stunning.

So what is the better 45 minutes of TV - Blink or Hush?

...

Urgh! I think I have to say, taken out of context, Blink. Maybe.

I need to watch Hush again.

I think that as a stand alone, Blink is more accessible. And it probably gets my overall vote, but it is a tough one.

Was that too cruel a question? It felt cruel.

It was! It made me just stare at the screen for at least 90 seconds, gibbering "But you can't make me CHOOSE!". But I've got over it now.

I may have to start randomly posting it on fan sites, kind of like a geek drive-by. If it doesn't cause brain melts it totally has the potential to ignite flame wars, or to consume forums.

Cool pictures. Especially liked the close-up of the flowers.
